Dear Parents and Students:

The 2007-08 school year is off to a great start; teachers are teaching and students are learning.  Standards based instruction in language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, physical education and a wide variety of electives ensure that our students are prepared for the future ahead of them.  It is our hope that they will explore elective opportunities in foreign languages, vocal or instrumental music, musical theatre, art, ASB, word processing or computer science, science tech, broadcasting, reading, math support, publications, or AVID.  We encourage students to get involved in Science Olympiad or the community based after school sports programs.

We want to keep you and your child informed of what’s going on at Valley Middle School so we communicate in a variety of ways (just in case the flyer doesn’t come out of the backpack!):

  • PTA Newsletter
  • PTA Meetings are held the second Tuesday of every month in the library
  • PTA General Association Meetings
  • School Loop
  • Student Bulletin (read during first period)
  • Valley Web Site  - check out VMSTV and the online student handbook
  • Connect-ED is an automated phone call reminder of upcoming school events
  • Back to School and Open House Nights
  • English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC)

If you need specific information about your child’s academic progress, please call the teacher to discuss your questions.  They will set individual appointments when requested in advance.  Please allow 24 hours for a return phone call.

We encourage parents to stay involved at school.  We need volunteers in the library, front office, choral boosters, Science Olympiad, Parents on Campus and more.  Please call the main office if you are interested.  We’ll get you plugged in!

Valley Middle School is a great place to be a kid!  Thank you for your support and involvement as we seek to provide a first class education for each child.

Educationally yours,

Mrs. Carolyn Millikin

Principal
